Wild Pet

Wild-Pet may sound like an oxymoron. But I have seen one..This is the picture of my brother with a hound dog at our uncle's farm near Gudur, Nellore Dt, Andhra Pradesh. My younger brother, Kiran, worked in this farm few years back developing a barren land into a plantation for medicinal plants. Quite an illustrative career he has, worked in a media company as apprentice, got fired before he learnt basics, then joined a biotech startup, worked as a bell boy to General Manager, their ERP management and 10 other roles. He then joined Satyam working at Australia now. As part of that biotech firm, he worked/lived in this farm there for around 1 year.

The dogs in this photo are wild hounds (I dont know exact breed), from the tribal-belt in Tungabadra River banks in Kurnool Dt, AP. They have a peculiar trait. They are nocturnal. They wake up in the evening, and become very active. By 8 PM or so, the farm security guy will take them around the perimeter of the farm (close to the fence) for one round, then they will start guarding the fence. And if 'any creature' - humans or stray animals try to get inside the farm, these dogs will place their front paws on the chest and place the jaws near the throat. And if they move, they are gone. Very ferocious indeed. Unless security guard comes and commands it to leave, the victim has no choice than to stand still and not move.

Another interesting behavior is their feeding. They do not feed these dogs anything. No meat, no milk, no rice or anything. The how do they survive? Hunting!! These monsters hunt in the jungle close by - some rabbits or other smaller animals. They have a fresh meal every other day evening and return to the farm. It was a spine thrilling experience to listen to these

USA and Violence

I saw an interesting article in CNN that why Congress and Senate doesn't dare to pass any bill against 2nd Amendment - votes. Supporters of Anti-Gun laws do not vote. On the other hand supporters of 2nd amendment will vote. There is a belief that it is the primary reason why Democrats lost in 2000. Quite interesting. Whatever be the belief and rights of Americans, gun control alone will not solve the problem. As a society, there seemed to be diminishing values. What USA lacks is strong moral leadership. Falling Church, lack of strong leaders, family values and violence as entertainment (and including TV News) are some reasons I could think of (and borrow from others ideas)

I wish there is some correction.

Virginia Tech...I mourn

Words cannot express the shock and anguish I am feeling when I hear about this blot in the human history. Why should we allow criminals go around freely? How can we stop future killers? Why it happened in a place of learning? 33 families now lost their beloved. Yes 33 including the killer. He is a young chap just 23 years old. He might have become a scientist, professor, business man or anything he deserves. Not a death like a dog.

All questions and no answers...

Service Oriented Architecture

When everybody are talking about SOA, I would like to put my perspective. For me, this is a new way of building systems as well as wiring systems without hardwiring. Here we have to carefully create topologies keeping basics in mind.

I see enterprises with event-centric environment, where most of the interactions are fine grained events. For these, message driven systems with a reliable message broker will be appropriate.

On the other hand, enterprises with large volume data processing should be optimized for processing with either mainframes/ large CPU based work horses.

ESB systems are still important, but more in the event-centric environment.

Again, my take might change as I go deep into the implementations I am working on.
